Chelsea Gallery Hopping

Spending the past week in NYC has been amazing. The city has this creative buzz that's vibrant and inspiring. There's what feels like an endless amount of things to do and explore, and one of my favorite discoveries this trip was the Chelsea Art Galleries. Within a few blocks in the neighborhood of Chelsea there are tons of free art galleries open to the public showcasing some incredible contemporary art. If you get the chance to visit NYC, spending an afternoon visiting these galleries is a must!

Here is a link to the Chelsea Gallery map, which is always up to date with the current exhibitions and viewing hours.

The first (and by far my favorite) exhibit I saw was a collection of work by artist Pedro Reyes at the Lisson Gallery on 24th St. I was blown away by his work - the walls were covered floor to ceiling in large-scale B&W drawings with bold orange accents that tied the collection together. The line work in these drawings of distorted faces and objects was clean and beautiful and made quite the impression in their large-scale format. In the center of the space, under the gallery's high ceilings, stood large figurative sculptures that Reyes created out of volcanic stone, concrete and marble.

Rattan Chair Obsession

Rattan and wicker furniture look great in almost any space. Their playful shapes and natural material quality bring texture and comfort into even the most modern and minimal spaces. Here's some inspiration...
