Elton John's Private Collection

Tate Modern // The Radical Eye: Modernist Photography from the Sir Elton John Collection

Who knew Elton John had a personal collection of 150 Modernist photographs?! If you're in London right now, make sure to stop by this exhibit! The Radical Eye at the Tate Modern is the first public exhibition showcasing his private collection of black and white photographs that he began collecting in 1991. Sir Elton John's collected work from approximately 70 different artists, such as Man Ray, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Andre Kertesz and many more. The prints span from around the 1920’s through the 1950’s and are displayed in the same frames that Sir Elton John uses in his own home in Atlanta. He has collected photographs that range in size, subject matter and photographic process. A truly incredible personal collection!
